Miller comments on Ocasio-Cortez’s height joke: ‘We knew her brain wasn’t functioning’

On Monday, White House chief of staff Stephen Miller took aim at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York after she poked fun at his height and labeled him a “clown.”

“Well, it was already clear her brain wasn’t functioning right,” Miller remarked during an appearance on FOX News’ “The Ingraham Angle.” He added, “Now we see her eyes aren’t working either; she’s a hot mess, honestly. What a train wreck,” he said, emphasizing his disdain.

Miller claimed, “Every time she shows up on TV, Republican approval ratings inch up while Democrats’ ratings slip. That woman is a total nightmare.” He also declared himself to be 5 feet 10 inches tall.

In a post later that evening on X, Ocasio-Cortez expressed her disbelief at Miller’s comments about her height, saying she was “crying” after witnessing what was said live.

She wrote, “I can’t believe they aired this and let him hear it live.” In her Instagram Live stream from Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez criticized Miller and other members of the Trump administration, suggesting that laughter is the best way to resist what she called their regime.

“They’re really grasping at straws because they’ve got nothing else,” she said. “Just laugh at them. Stephen Miller is a clown! I’ve never actually seen the guy, but he seems like he’s about 4 feet 10 inches tall. He appears pretty angry about that, and he channels that anger toward everyone else.” She added, “Just laugh.”

Ocasio-Cortez also touched on what she called Miller’s “unstable masculinity,” suggesting that “one of the best ways to undermine insecure men is to make fun of them.” She encouraged surrounding oneself with confident individuals who aren’t intimidated by successful people.

The exchanges between Ocasio-Cortez and Miller are fairly common, as they frequently clash on television and social media. Ocasio-Cortez has also made headlines regarding the ongoing government shutdown and has responded to those claiming she might challenge Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in the upcoming primary.

Earlier that Sunday, Miller had critiqued Representative Dan Goldman from New York, who had accused him of harming a South Carolina judge before that judge’s home was destroyed. Miller referred to Goldman’s allegations as “distorted and vulgar.”
