Mindy Cohn Recovers After Secret Cancer Battle
Mindy Cohn is out of the hospital and on the mend following a hidden fight with cancer. The actress, best known for her role on “The Facts of Life,” took to Instagram on Sunday to express her gratitude for life and connect with her followers.
“I took a break from social media for a while because I had to overcome cancer,” Cohn revealed in her post.
The star, who has also appeared in “Palm Royale,” shared a photo from her hospital bed, giving a thumbs-up to her fans. “I couldn’t have done this without the incredible support from the staff at Providence St. John’s Hospital — especially nurses Finja, Patty, and Courtney, along with my amazing oncologist, @antonbilchik,” she noted.
Cohn, who gained fame portraying Natalie Green in the 1980s sitcom, chose not to disclose specific details about her diagnosis. Her representatives have yet to respond to inquiries regarding the situation.
In her heartfelt message, she expressed gratitude to her family and close friends: “Thank you to my family, especially my significant others @tarakarsian, @johnwstewart, and @gregoryzarian. They are my advocates and are always there when it’s ‘my turn.'” She added, “Just a few more weeks to recover and get ready for the next adventure. And even more! F**K Cancer!”
Following her announcement, many in the entertainment community, like Holly Robinson Peete and Octavia Spencer, sent well wishes. “We love you, Mindy! We’re always here when you need us!” remarked Jerry O’Connell, and Peri Gilpin added, “Looking forward to coffee in the near future!”
Cohn previously shared that attending acting after the age of 13 was somewhat unplanned for her. She mentioned that while she enjoyed working on “The Facts of Life,” her school commitments and workload made her feel much older than her age.
The beloved show, which ran from 1979 to 1988, centered around four girls at a prestigious boarding school and their matron, Mrs. Edna Garrett. Cohn’s talent shone brightly throughout its nine seasons.
