In Minneapolis, Minnesota, amid protests against ICE and a fraud scandal related to Somalia, two citizen journalists were attacked on Sunday, with one of them nearly losing his life, according to officials.
Citizen journalist Cam Higbie shared a video depicting himself and fellow journalist Nick Souter speaking with police after they allegedly had their cameras stolen and were targeted.
“This is what the Metropolitan Police Department said,” Higbie recounted. “We walked away after being attacked, followed, threatened, robbed, and Nick nearly killed. They said even if we gave a complete license plate, the likelihood of the camera being recovered is slim.”
The video features the journalists talking to police, who advised them to “stay away from the area” as they aimed to maintain order. One journalist countered with, “But if I’m a woman and I get raped for wearing tight jeans, I think, ‘Well, I shouldn’t have been there.'”
“If we are attacked, we are told to leave,” he added.
In an earlier video, Higbie alleged that a Somali woman had stolen Souter’s camera, dragging him along with her car. The footage shows a break-in at the back of a car, followed by the dramatic moment of Souter being pulled by a red vehicle.
Later, Higbie said that the attacker’s address appears to be linked to a children’s autism center. He clarified, “To be clear, that address is associated with the car’s owner. It’s possible the robber got into someone else’s vehicle. We suspect the individuals in the image may be the robber’s parents.”
This incident follows a recent report where ICE agents fatally shot a woman who allegedly threatened them with a weapon during an immigration operation in Minneapolis. Additionally, citizen journalist Nick Shirley revealed a potential multimillion-dollar fraud involving the Somali community’s daycare and health services.
Shirley’s recent video shows him visiting various locations in Minneapolis that reportedly offer taxpayer-funded taxi services for those in need.
Reportedly, rioters vandalized an ICE vehicle, robbed a locker containing weapons, and made off with rifles and ammunition on Wednesday night, but police in Minneapolis could not respond in time.

Breitbart News mentioned that “Somali taxpayer fraud is a significant aspect of the Democratic Party’s political machinery in Minnesota,” citing Jim O’Neill, Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services.
