A Minnesota police officer who also works as a substitute teacher has been banned from teaching in the Southern Washington School District for using students to reenact the events leading up to George Floyd's death.

Prescott Police Officer Steve Williams is also a two-year veteran of the Woodbury Police Department and was not officially employed as a Prescott police officer at the time of the alleged acts.

However, a statement released by the City of Prescott confirmed that the officer in question is currently on leave pending further investigation.

“The City of Prescott and the Prescott Police Department recognize that the current allegations against Mr. Williams, if true, are deeply disturbing and reprehensible, and we in no way condone his actions. We extend our deepest condolences to the Southern Washington School District, staff, and students.''

In the process of speaking with individual students, officials also learned that during the incident, he “twisted students' arms behind their backs, exposed pressure points on their jaws and faces,” and “talked about a bar fight and punched students. School officials said a report on the incident has been submitted to the Minnesota Department of Education and the state's Educator Licensing Board.

While the Woodbury Police Department is investigating, the City of Prescott is conducting its own internal investigation.
