For Tim Walz, the pregame was much better than his state's college football program.
The University of Minnesota traveled to Ann Arbor for a Big Ten game against No. 12 Michigan, and the reigning champions dominated from the start.
The Golden Gophers fought back late, scoring three touchdowns in the fourth quarter alone, but it wasn't enough.

In the end, the Minnesota governor watched the Golden Gophers lose to the Wolverines 27-24 in a suite with Beto O'Rourke.
Minnesota made it a three-point game with 1:36 remaining and actually recovered an onside kick, but the special teamer was ruled offside and the play was voided, allowing the Wolverines to run out the remaining time.
Before the game, Walz was tailgating with fans outside the Big House.

“A little rain can't cancel the big Michigan-Minnesota game! And it can't stop students from making sure everyone on campus is registered to vote,” Walz said. posted on X.

When asked by the University of Michigan Democrats on the X show if he was excited for Michigan to beat Minnesota today, he laughed, knowing it was unlikely.
“I'm excited to be in the Big House and excited to watch this great game. I'm even more excited to see these young people excited about their future.” he answered.
After the tailgating, Walz and his wife went onto the field to greet Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck.
University of Michigan running back Karel Mullins maintained his dominance on the ground, finding the end zone twice.
The Wolverines are currently 5-1 and have won four straight since their loss to No. 1 ranked Texas. The Gophers are currently 2-3 on the season, losing both conference games.

Minnesota will play its first road game next week in a national championship rematch with Washington, but Minnesota will host No. 13 USC.
