Surprise Proposal at Minnesota Hospital

Years after waking up from separate comas, Zach Zarembinski and Isabel Richard reunited at a hospital in Minnesota, where their extraordinary story began. This time, though, Zarembinski had a special question in mind.

Richard admitted on “America’s Newsroom,” “I was kind of surprised. I had a feeling it might happen, but…well, I just didn’t think he could keep it a secret.” She chuckled, recalling her morning thoughts as she prepared for the day.

According to reports, Zarembinski managed to get permission to film an episode of his podcast, “Hope in Healing,” which led him to invite Richard back to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

The video of the emotional proposal, which was shared online, captured Zarembinski guiding Richard to the spot where he first met her family after waking from his coma in November 2018. After a heartfelt moment, he got down on one knee and asked, “Will you marry me?” As he did, a white background transformed to reveal a large heart made of flowers and a scripted wedding proposal.

With a joyful “Yes,” Richard accepted.

The couple had first crossed paths in 2018 while both were patients at the same hospital, each recovering from significant trauma.

Richard faced a challenging recovery after suffering severe head injuries from a road accident, while Zarembinski, just 18 years old, had collapsed on the sidelines of a football game due to a brain hemorrhage. Despite being unconscious at the time, Richard recalled Zarembinski comforting his family, saying, “It’s okay,” and he felt an instinctive assurance about her well-being. “My soul told me she was okay,” he shared.

They had exchanged a brief conversation and even posed for a photo after Richard awoke, but their lives took different paths for six years. It wasn’t until their mothers organized a family dinner that they reconnected, after which they started dating.

Zarembinski reflected on their connection, sharing, “I knew she was the one…” He even went back to his diary to revisit their first date, noting how they immediately clicked. “Our spirits were meant to be,” he concluded.
