Minnesota’s P.J. Fleck gets mayo bath from guest mascot Flavor Flav

The Dukes-Mayo Bowl has become a cult favorite in college football over the past few seasons, thanks to its sponsorship and the winning head coach's wacky postgame mayonnaise dunk.

If that wasn't enough to captivate college football fans, this year's game also added some suspense when it was Nicole Auerbach of NBC Sports revealed this during the game. Celebrities dressed up as Duke's mascot “Tubby.”

Fans waited for the announcement as the clock ticked down during the Minnesota-Virginia Tech game.

And finally, when it was all over with the Gophers' 24-10 victory, it was hip-hop artist Flavor Flav, the man famous for wearing a watch under his mascot suit.

While Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck waited for his mayonnaise moment of glory, the top of the costume – a mayonnaise bottle with a yellow lid – was removed to reveal a wrapper underneath.

Wearing a gold and silver watch, he said two simple words to the crowd at Bank of America Stadium and those watching at home. “Yes, boy!”

Fleck looked in complete disbelief.

“Flavor Flav, damn it!” he said.

The two hugged, and after a moment Fleck sat down with the condiment in hand, waiting for the moment, before Fleck helped throw the condiment over his head.

Fluff's mayonnaise bath moment came months after he became a prominent fan at the 2024 Paris Olympics, loudly cheering for the U.S. water polo team and helping U.S. track and field athletes pay their rent.

For Minnesota, they controlled the game and completed a fake tush push pass in the fourth quarter to seal the victory and finish the year with an 8-5 record.
