Californians are facing devastation after losing their homes in the wildfires that hit the Golden Coast. But when one family returned to see the burnt remains, they noticed something interesting.
The Halpin family felt a sign of hope when they saw statues of the Virgin Mary and St. Joseph miraculously survive the fire.
“Our son-in-law snuck in the day after the fire and took pictures, so that was the first picture we saw that really confirmed that the house was gone,” Jackie Halpin said of Jill. Savage and Matthew Peterson on Blaze News. tonight. ”
“His wife, his daughter, said, 'Mom, look, look at the bottom of the picture,' and there was a statue. I'm not saying it's a miracle, but we still They say it gave them so much hope that they were protected and loved,” Jackie continued.
It was then that all six of her children decided to return to the ruins and “pray to God in gratitude for the wonderful years we spent at home.”
“We didn't go to sing. We went to pray. So we said a prayer that our family says is an offering to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. So we said a prayer. We often sing that song after chanting, baptisms, weddings and funerals, so we just happened to sing that song,” Jackie explains.
The moment was captured on video by the family, which went viral.
“We never expected this to go viral or become famous. It's a little humiliating, but we just did it to hold on to hope. And sometimes you have to force yourself to be grateful. We wanted to be grateful, even though sometimes it has to be,” she continues.
“We just wanted to say thank you to God and that's all we can do. That's our hope,” she added.
