Miss Jamaica Hospitalized After Miss Universe Fall

Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, is expected to stay in the hospital for at least another week following a fall from the Miss Universe stage in Thailand on Wednesday.

“Gabby’s condition isn’t quite what we had hoped for, but the hospital is providing her with the care she needs,” her sister expressed to the Miss Universe Jamaica organization on Friday.

The 28-year-old contestant is currently in intensive care at Thailand’s Paolo Rangsit Hospital, accompanied by her mother and sister. Doctors are keeping a close watch on her to ensure she receives specialized treatment for at least seven days, as stated by the organization.

No additional information about her health has been made available.

During the evening dress segment of the 47th Miss Universe pageant, Henry was strutting across the Bangkok stage in a stunning orange gown when she unexpectedly fell off the dark runway, landing face-first into the audience, according to footage circulating on social media.

The audience immediately reacted, with many rushing to help her. Further clips showed the beauty queen being transported on a stretcher.

Although Henry was rushed to a hospital, it was announced that she had, fortunately, avoided any life-threatening injuries and did not suffer broken bones.

This incident adds to a series of controversies surrounding the 47th Miss Universe pageant. Just days before the event, judge Omar Harhoush resigned, claiming that an “improvised jury” with personal ties to contestants had already decided who would advance among the 136 competitors.

Additionally, Miss Universe executive Nawat Isaragrisil was dismissed after a shocking altercation with Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch, leading numerous contestants to walk out of pre-pageant events in her support.

Organizers are now urging fans to pray for Henry, who works as an ophthalmologist and is the founder of the See Me Foundation, a charity aimed at supporting visually impaired individuals in Jamaica.

“During this challenging time, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization asks Jamaicans and the diaspora to keep Gabrielle in their thoughts,” they said. “We also invite friends and supporters globally to join us in lifting her spirit. We kindly request that the public refrain from sharing negative comments or misinformation that could further distress her family.”
