A 2024 Miss Teen Rodeo Kansas was killed and five of her collegiate equestrian teammates were injured in a car crash in rural Kansas Friday night, school officials said.
Emma Brungardt, 19, a sophomore at Colby Community College majoring in equine management and production, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, authorities said.

Brungardt and four of his equestrian teammates were in a pickup truck driven by an unidentified 18-year-old.
Kansas Highway Patrol troopers said in an accident report that the driver of a pickup truck was headed south when it “swerved into a Y-shaped row of trees,” causing the vehicle to overturn.
The driver and four surviving passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to Civic Medical Center in Colby, Kansas.
