Less than eight months after being crowned Miss Teen USA 2023, Umasofia Srivastava is stepping down from the title. This came just two days after Miss USA 2023 Noelia Vogt also announced her own resignation.

Wednesday, May 8thththe New Jersey-based teenager announced his decision on Instagram, stating that his “personal values are no longer fully aligned with the direction of the organization.”
“After many months of agonizing over this decision, I have made the choice to decline the title of Miss Teen USA in 2023,” she wrote. “I am grateful for all the support from my family, state directors, sister queens, and fans who have cheered me on since I won the state title. I always look back fondly on my time there, but the experience of representing my state on a national level as a first-generation Mexican-Indian American was fulfilling in itself.”
“Ultimately, working with these amazing nonprofits and seeing first-hand the impact that The White Jaguar had on the children and adults it read to has built my legacy. ” she continued. “This work has always been my true purpose.”
Shortly after, the Miss Teen USA organization saw Srivastava’s post and immediately took to Instagram to wish the middle school student well and hinted that the next title holder would be announced soon.
“Uma Sophia, we wish you the best of luck. ❤️ Thank you for your service as Miss Teen USA. 👑,” the organization posted. “We respect and support Uma Sophia’s decision to step down from her duties. The health of the title holder is our top priority. We are currently considering a plan for the succession of responsibilities to a successor and will shortly We will be announcing the new Miss Teen USA crown.”
Mr. Srivastava’s resignation comes days after Mr. Vogt also announced his intention to resign from his position.
