South Carolina Teen Found Safe After Being Missing
A teenager from South Carolina, who had been reported missing late last year, has been located safely, and a man has been arrested in connection with the case, say authorities.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Office reported that 16-year-old Mackenzie Dalton was found in the county following a missing persons investigation. Officials noted no signs suggesting she was being held against her will or with someone she wished to avoid.
Dalton had not been seen since she left her home in late November, which prompted her to be categorized as an endangered juvenile due to both her age and the duration of her disappearance.
Authorities previously stated that they believed Dalton might have been with a male acquaintance, although they did not disclose his identity. The investigation led to the retrieval of the vehicle Dalton drove, as well as a suitcase she had taken with her.
During this investigation, Mackenzie Keith English Jr., an 18-year-old, was arrested for obstructing official business. Authorities claim he misled investigators about Dalton’s whereabouts and his relationship with her.
English is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center, according to the sheriff’s office.
