The search for a woman missing since February 28 ended in tragedy as authorities announced the body of Amanda Nenniger had been recovered.
Late Friday night, the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office announced in a statement that the body of a 27-year-old woman was found near the California-Arizona border, nearly a month after she was reported missing.
Nenniger was last seen alive on February 28 in Blythe, California, county officials said.
On March 12, authorities said Nenigal’s car was located in a remote area of La Paz County, south of Cibola.

“The family has been notified and has issued a statement requesting privacy and thanking the public for their assistance in the search for Amanda. Please respect the family and refrain from spreading rumors or speculation during this time,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. I ask that you do so.”
The circumstances leading up to her death and how she died have not been disclosed at this time.
“This is an ongoing investigation and a future autopsy will determine the cause of death,” officials said.

Ms. Nenniger’s family released a statement about her death on the Facebook group “Find Amanda Nenniger.”
“It is with heavy hearts that we have to inform you all that she was found dead last night, Friday, March 29, 2024, and is no longer a missing person case. We have many questions. “We have been informed that her death is under investigation, and an autopsy will follow,” the post reads. “Our hearts are broken and we will miss her terribly. Please allow our family some privacy as we mourn Amanda’s loss and prepare for the days ahead.”

The La Paz County Sheriff’s Office asked the public not to call 911 for updates on the investigation.
“Updates will be made available to the public through appropriate news channels and this page as deemed appropriate,” the sheriff’s office wrote on its Facebook page.
