New Release: Mission: Impossible – Final Calculation
If you’re up for it, the latest installment in the Mission Impossible series, Mission: Impossible – Final Calculation, is set to hit digital platforms tomorrow for purchase or rental.
This marks the eighth film in the franchise, and there’s a Part 2 scheduled for 2023, titled Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who co-wrote the script with Eric Jendresen, this might be the last time we see Tom Cruise portray Agent Ethan Hunt. The notable cast returns, including Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett, plus retired star Tramel Tillman in a supporting role. Ethan’s mission—assuming he chooses to accept it—involves stopping the villain Gabriel Martinelli (played by Esai Morales) from obtaining a dangerous AI program known as the “entities.”
With a hefty budget ranging from $300 million to $400 million, the film has earned its place among the most expensive productions ever, grossing around $596 million globally. Paramount seems hopeful to capitalize further on this success with the digital release. But before I cough up twenty bucks to watch a new Mission Impossible flick, just a heads-up: Final Calculation is expected to stream on Paramount+ by the year’s end.
Where to Watch Mission: Impossible – Final Calculation
Starting Tuesday, August 19th, at midnight Eastern Time (or 9 PM Pacific Time on August 18th), Mission: Impossible – Final Calculation will be available for digital purchase on platforms like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Fandango, among others. Pricing may vary, but you can grab it for $19.99 on Amazon Prime.
As for streaming, Mission: Impossible – Final Calculation isn’t available on any subscription services yet; however, it’s likely to make its debut on Paramount+ soon since it’s a Paramount title.
Paramount+ currently has two subscription options: one that includes ads for $7.99 a month and a premium, ad-free plan at $12.99 per month, which includes Showtime and live CBS. New users can take advantage of a 7-day free trial.
When Will Mission: Impossible – Final Calculation Be Free on Paramount Plus?
The streaming schedule for Mission: Impossible – Final Calculation hasn’t been officially released yet. As of now, it’s only showing in theaters. Based on past releases from Paramount, there are some educated guesses we could make regarding its streaming availability.
For instance, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 became available digitally about three months after its theatrical debut, with streaming on Paramount+ starting six months after that. Using this pattern, Final Calculation might show up on Paramount+ around November 2025, I think—though, of course, this is all just speculation. If you’re eager to catch the latest Mission Impossible film, you might want to consider buying or renting it online right away.
