A Mississippi police officer has been fired after a video surfaced of him forcing a detained man to lick his own urine on the floor, city officials announced Thursday.
Michael Christian Green was a patrol officer with the Pearl Police Department when the incident occurred on Dec. 23. Green was fired four days later following an internal investigation, the Mississippi Clarion-Ledger reported, citing a Pearl city spokesperson.
Green had a man in jail after a disturbance at one of his facilities. Sam’s Club When the person knocked on the jail door and said he needed to go to the bathroom, federal prosecutors lifted the seal on Wednesday and wrote in a criminal information obtained by NBC News.
Documents say the man urinated in the corner of the room after not letting anyone out. Prosecutors said Green is accused of threatening to hit the man over the phone and demanding he “fuck off.”

Green allegedly stood in the doorway and recorded the man on his cell phone as the man followed his commands, then was gagged and vomited into a trash can.

“The city became aware of this disturbing incident over Christmas weekend and immediately began an internal investigation,” Pearl City spokeswoman Thérèse Appel said in a news release. “Officer Greene will be relieved of duty by December 27, 2023.”
Information about possible charges was not immediately provided, and it was unclear how Green would defend himself.
