Bone appetite!
A Mississippi teacher is in the doghouse after unknowingly serving nearly a dozen students beef-flavored dog treats during a classroom party, sending one child to the hospital.
A Calhoun City High School educator lost his job over the blunder after eight students ate at least a mouthful of pet food, mistaking it for beef jerky. WTVA reported.
Calhoun County School District Superintendent Dr. Lisa Langford said at least one student who bit into the dog treats was sent to the hospital with abdominal pain.
“I don't want to believe that anyone would do something like that to their children, but I find it hard to believe that they didn't notice there was a dog in the pack when it said 'dog jerky,'” the mother said. Atlantis Whaley said. After taking his son for treatment, he said:
The other students were treated by the school's nurse, who immediately contacted poison control authorities and alerted the parents of the affected children following the blunder, local media reported.
The incident occurred last week during a birthday celebration for several students.
The superintendent confirmed that the teacher is no longer employed, but did not say whether he had been fired.
School officials identified the teacher.
