Tragic Shooting Outside Missouri Supermarket

A Missouri grandmother, who had previously defeated cancer, was fatally shot in what appears to be an unprovoked attack outside a Price Chopper supermarket on Memorial Day. The alleged shooter, a man who had made previous threats against his family, has been identified as 27-year-old Allen Prince.

Amy Kuhn, 45, was killed during the incident, which also claimed the life of 16-year-old Ayden, a supermarket employee, who was shot while retrieving a cart.

After the shooting, Prince was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, having been held at gunpoint by two individuals. He was hospitalized and apprehended, according to local police reports.

Authorities discovered a bolt-action Winchester .243 caliber rifle near Prince.

Kuhn, who lived in Strasburg, was affectionately known as “Grammy” to her two grandchildren. She had been battling cancer for approximately a year but had been cancer-free before the disease returned a few months ago. According to a neighbor, she had been preparing to undergo treatment once again.

Neighbors shared that Kuhn had expressed optimism about her health, stating she was handling her situation well. The specifics of the cancer she faced were not disclosed in her family’s obituary.

Her family described her as a nurturing figure who deeply cared for those around her. They noted that despite her health struggles, she always made time for her family and cherished the simple pleasures in life, like crafts and gardening.

Friends expressed shock over Kuhn’s sudden death, emphasizing the impact she had on many lives.

The investigation into the motive behind the attack is ongoing, with police revealing that Prince was out on bail at the time of the incident. Authorities are still working to determine if there was any connection between Prince’s past threats and this particular shooting.

According to court documents, Prince had a history of threatening behavior, including a prior incident where he allegedly threatened a family member. He was arrested after declaring he had a shotgun in his home, with police later discovering ammunition there as well.

During the supermarket incident, witnesses indicated that Kuhn was shot while near her vehicle before Prince targeted the young employee. Following this, two men confronted Prince, leading to his self-inflicted injury.

The police chief commended the brave actions of the two individuals who intervened, highlighting the importance of community support and protection for one another.

Law enforcement found several shell casings at the scene, and it was reported that Prince also had additional ammunition on him. Witnesses mentioned that he had attempted to shoot another man but missed his target.
