Police in the western Missouri town of Sedalia shot and killed a knife-wielding suspect during an argument, injuring two officers, investigators said.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating at the request of the Sedalia Police Chief.

The patrol said officers were called to a disturbance Saturday night and encountered someone armed with a knife. The suspect was later identified as a 28-year-old man from Sedalia.
An argument ensued, and at least one officer fired, striking the suspect, who died at the scene. Patrol Corporal Justin Ewing said Monday that two officers suffered stab wounds. Both were treated at a hospital and released.

Sedalia is a town of 22,000 people located approximately 90 miles southeast of Kansas City, Missouri.
