Missouri Quarterback Sam Horn Injured in Game Against Central Arkansas

During the first play of the game against Central Arkansas on Thursday night, Missouri quarterback Sam Horn suffered a severe injury, overshadowing the team’s 61-6 victory. This injury complicates an already tense quarterback competition with Beau Pribula, a transfer from Pennsylvania.

Horn, a redshirt junior, was on the field for the second series after the Tigers had already taken a 6-0 lead. Unfortunately, he sustained the injury to his lower body while attempting to run the ball for six yards.

He remained on the ground while teammates rushed to his aid, and medical staff eventually carried him off the field.

“I’m extremely disappointed about the injuries to Sam and Blake Craig. It’s truly unfortunate, and we’ll find out more tomorrow regarding the extent of their injuries,” said head coach Elia Drinkwitz during the post-game press conference.

After the injury, Horn was seen using crutches and wearing a full leg brace. Drinkwitz refrained from speculating about whether Horn’s injury could be a season-ender, noting that more details would be available following an MRI scheduled for Friday.

This injury hands the starting quarterback role to Pribula, as their competition for the top spot was still ongoing ahead of kickoff. Pribula had an impressive game, completing 28 of 28 passes for 283 yards and throwing two touchdowns, along with adding another 65 yards and two rushing scores.

“He didn’t just step up; he kept on playing,” Drinkwitz remarked about Pribula’s performance, indicating that the team had expected him to run specific plays early in the game.

The injury to Horn casts a shadow over what should have been a celebratory night for the Tigers, leaving fans and teammates anxious about the quarterback’s future.
