The Missouri Valley Conference Tournament (better known as Arch Madness) annually hosts one of the most thrilling conference tournaments in men’s college basketball. This year should be no exception.
Indiana State won its regular season conference championship, propelled by Robby Avila, the breakout bespectacled big man who took the nation by storm with his versatile skill set. The Sycamores went 26-5 overall and 17-3 in the conference. They split the season series with Drake, their biggest competition as the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
Drake has been to the NCAA Tournament in two of the past three years. Star wing Tucker DeVries is having his best season as a junior, averaging points (21.9 points per game), rebounds (6.9 points per game), assists (3.5 points per game) and steals (1 game). (1.7 points per game), a career high. DeVries did the heavy lifting for the Bulldogs’ offense, posting a very high usage rate of 31.8 percent along with a solid scoring efficiency of 57.3 percent true shooting.
Can another team pull off a Cinderella run that wows the conference? Bradley and Belmont are the two best people to make that happen.
The Missouri Valley Conference has not received multiple bids to the men’s NCAA Tournament since 2021. It has been held five times since 2010. Could Indiana State and Drake both be in this year? Neither team wants to take any chances. If you win Arch Madness, you’re in! No pressure.
The 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri. This post will be updated with the results from time to time.
