A Missouri woman has been arrested after she was caught on camera lacing her husband’s Mountain Dew with a chemical weed killer, police said.
The Laclede County Sheriff’s Office said Michelle Peters, 47, was charged with first-degree domestic violence and armed criminal action. Social media Will post on Tuesday.
Peters is accused of repeatedly spitting drugs into her husband’s Mountain Dew, which was stored in a refrigerator in the garage, in May and June.
According to court documents: Law and crime, Peters admitted to poisoning her husband’s Mountain Dew to “spite him” because he didn’t seem happy about the 50th birthday celebration she had planned.

Her husband, who is being kept anonymous, first noticed on May 1 that her favorite soda tasted “weird.”
Despite the odd taste, he continued drinking Mountain Dew and soon developed an addiction..
Doctors said Peters’ husband began suffering from a sore throat, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and was coughing up “thick brown/yellow mucus.”
Ingesting glyphosate, the chemical in Roundup, can cause increased saliva production, burning, sore mouth and throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and even death, according to the affidavit.

On June 24, Peters’ husband went to police and told them he believed his wife was trying to get hold of a $500,000 life insurance policy.

He told authorities he has “multiple” videos of his wife putting Roundup, used to get rid of pesky weeds, into Mountain Dew bottles.
On June 24, her husband also allegedly filmed Peters putting insecticide into a Mountain Dew bottle.

When questioned about the incident, Peters explained he mixed a soft drink with Roundup to use as a weed killer, according to the documents.
The documents also state that she admitted to putting pesticides in her husband’s Mountain Dew bottles, believing it was Roundup.

Her husband survived, but his condition is currently unknown.
Peters is being held without bail at the Laclede County Detention Center. A bail review hearing is scheduled for July 2.
