Mitch McConnell Appears to Need Aide’s Help in Hearing Question

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) seemed difficult to hear questions from reporters until his aide moved within inches of his ear and informed them of the questions.

in video Reporters posted on social media can be heard asking McConnell, 83, about the tariffs and whether they had a discussion about the effects of tariffs and whether it was a “bad policy.”

“Senator McConnell, a question about customs,” reporters can be heard asking. “You called it a bad policy in February. Did you have a conversation with the president about its impact, or did you tell him what it looks like here in Kentucky or what it's a bad policy?”

“My hearing wasn't what happened before,” admitted McConnell.

“Taxes, Senator, your comments are about tariffs,” aides hearing McConnell say they're off-screen, as if they look confused.

“Comments on customs….Duty Comments” can be seen through McConnell's ears, so the aide repeats.

“Yeah, that's right,” says McConnell. “I'm not a customs fan.”

In February, McConnell revealed he was not seeking reelection for the “eighth” and thanked Kentucky for choosing to serve as Senator seven times.

“I don't seek that honor for the eighth time,” McConnell said at the time. “My current term in the Senate will be my last.”

As reported previously by Breitbart News, at the beginning of February, McConnell was seen in a wheelchair, wearing boots on his feet a few days after he went down the stairs outside his Senate room.

In December, McConnell was also seen after falling with “wrist braces, wounded hands, and bandages on his fingers and face.” In autumn, they continued to do the “pattern where the alarm was raised in 2023.”
