Mitch McConnell To Announce He Will Not Run For Reelection

Republican Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell is expected to announce he will not seek reelection Thursday, according to multiple reports.

McConnell, 83, led the Senate Republican Conference for nearly 20 years, before resigning from his leadership post at the end of his final Congress. Following his decision to oppose President Donald Trump's famous cabinet pick and against the president's views of America's first foreign policy, there has been widespread speculation that a former Republican leader would retire . “Seven times my fellow Kentucky people sent me to the Senate,” McConnell said. I'm hoping for He says on the Senate floor on Thursday. “Every day in the meantime I am humbled by the trust they have placed on me to do their business here.
