Mitchell Robinson from the Knicks responds to critics in an Instagram post.

It seems Mitchell Robinson is grappling with his free throw struggles more than ever.

The Knicks center, who has shot a dismal 29% from the charity stripe in nine playoff games, reacted to the scrutiny regarding his performance.

“I know I do some silly things when I respond to this stuff. I really care, but, you know, my basketball and my daughter—that’s what matters most. Everything else? Not really,” he said. “People know me by now. I’ve been here for seven years. Anyway, happy Mother’s Day to everyone!”

His poor free throw rate has led the Celtics to employ a “hack a Mitch” strategy, intentionally fouling him to send him to the free throw line more often.

Robinson averaged just 1.1 free throw attempts per game during the regular season, finishing with a career-high 68.4% from the line. However, in the series against the Celtics, his attempts jumped to 7.7 per game, with a shooting percentage of only 30.4%.

In Game 3, after missing a free throw, Robinson buried his face in his hands, while the MSG crowd rallied behind him, supporting him when he hit his second attempt after missing the first four. He’s a vital asset for the Knicks, providing rim protection and defensive strength when healthy.

Robinson showcased solid on-ball defense against Celtics star Jason Tatum in Game 2, forcing Tatum toward the baseline before being blocked by Mikal Bridges, which helped secure the win.

According to reports, Robinson has received assistance from Barry, an expert in underhand free throws, as he works to improve his game. The Knicks will aim for a 3-1 series lead against the Celtics in Game 4 at Madison Square Garden on Monday.
