Knicks Without Robinson Again
The Knicks are gearing up for another game without Mitchell Robinson. He’s set to miss his second consecutive game due to injury management related to his left ankle.
This has raised some eyebrows, given that Robinson has dealt with left ankle issues in the past, having had two surgeries in the last two years. However, Coach Mike Brown insists that this isn’t a new injury and that managing Robinson’s health was part of the plan from the start.
“I don’t think about that,” Brown said on Wednesday. “I let the medical team handle it. When they call me, I take the lead. That’s their job. I’m not an expert in that area.”
He doesn’t seem overly concerned about the broader implications, which is perhaps reassuring for fans.
Ariel Hukporti started as center in Robinson’s absence during the Knicks’ opener against the Cavaliers, and he put up two points along with five rebounds in 18 minutes of play. It’s, you know, a start, but certainly not a standout performance.
In terms of injuries, Josh Hart is dealing with lumbar spasms and Karl-Anthony Towns has a strain in his right quad, making their status questionable for the upcoming game. On the flip side, OG Anunoby is likely to play despite having an ankle sprain. Hart sat out the last game, while Anunoby and Towns were in the lineup.
Towns shared after the recent game that he was dealing with a Grade 2 right quadriceps injury, suggesting he felt it during play. “It’s not easy to manage,” he noted, acknowledging the support from fans and teammates for his effort that night.
