David Ortiz was a career hitter with a .286 batting average and 541 home runs, but he also had the highest strikeout record ever.
The Boston Red Sox legend announced his gender in the Dominican Republic surrounded by friends and family.
Fittingly, 'Big Papi' chose a baseball-themed unveiling, where when he hits an object, it explodes in blue or pink, reflecting the gender of the unborn child.

So Ortiz stepped into the batter's box and prepared for his 542nd career home run.
However, the left-handed slugger was stuck with an up-and-in pitch and was unable to make contact.
But that didn't stop the party in the slightest, with blue confetti spraying up from elsewhere. Of course, it was supposed to be timed when Ortiz made contact.
Ortiz was seen picking up an object from behind as blue rained down and everyone shouted in celebration.
When the camera eventually showed him again, he was celebrating like a father would when he just found out he was having a baby boy, and he quickly forgot about the strikeout.

The boy will be the 48-year-old's fifth child, but his first with his new girlfriend. He has three children from his previous marriage and one son from another relationship.
One of Ortiz's sons plays for the Brockton Rocks of the New England Futures Collegiate Baseball League, along with Pedro Martinez Jr. and Manny Ramirez Jr., the sons of former Red Sox teammates. Gary Sheffield's son is also on the team.
Ortiz won three World Series with Boston before retiring in 2017, but the Sox won it again the following year.
