Baseball legend and MLB batting champion Pete Rose died Monday afternoon at his home in Las Vegas, his agent announced. TMZ. He was 83 years old.

A former MVP, Rose was in Major League Baseball in total. 24 yearsbegan his career with the Cincinnati Reds in 1963. There he won three World Series championship rings and was named to the 17 All-Star team, his last season being 1986. Rose also played for the Philadelphia Phillies and Montreal Expos.
Rose had 4,256 hits in his career, the most in baseball history. Rose is only one of two players to finish his career with more than 4,000 hits. In addition, Rose is also the owner with the most games played (3,562), at-bats (15,890), and at-bats (14,053) in MLB history.
Rose was also famously banned from baseball for life in 1989 after he was accused of gambling on games, including contests he was participating in, while in MLB.
