MLB news: Yankees’ Gerrit Cole to undergo tests on elbow after soreness: report

The New York Yankees received some amazing news on Friday night.

Star Pitcher Gerit Call will undergo a diagnostic test with a pitching elbow over the next few days. MLB Network.

The news comes after Cole struggled with the start of spring training for Minnesota twins. There, the 34-year-old gave up six runs in 2.2 innings.

Cole said his arms felt better during the start but got worse.

“When I got home it kept getting more and more painful,” Cole said. New York Post Saturday. “Something wasn't right.”

Cole was also closed after suffering an injury during spring training last season and later diagnosed with nerve stimulation in the elbow.

The six-time All-Star didn't make his first start until June 19th last season due to injuries. In the campaign that caused injuries last season, Cole was 8-5 with a 3.41 ERA with the start of the regular season in 17 times.

With the Yankees' run to the World Series, Cole was sensational in the playoffs. The Yankees ace was 1-0 and won a 2.17 ERA in five postseason starts.

Cole said he changed his offseason routine to reduce the risk of another injury.

“We came up with a plan to mitigate the risks and I did it,” Cole said.

“I felt great for a while (until the last start).

Cole has “first idea” about what the injury is, but says he's “worried,” calling the pain he's going through “surprising” and saying it's difficult to sleep.

As Lewis Gill suffered high-end rat tension, the 2023 Alsi Young winner is not the only Yankees pitcher to be sidelined with injuries.

Gill is expected to close for six weeks to recover from his injury.

Without Cole and Gill, the Yankees' starting rotation now consists of Maxfried, Carlos Rodon, Clark Schmidt and Marcus Stroman, with prospects having Warren among those competing for the fifth spot in the rotation.
