MLB pitcher talks standing up to anti-Catholic group

Washington Nationals pitcher Trevor Williams was one of the loudest voices to blame the Los Angeles Dodgers for hosting a permanent Dul sisterhood at the stadium in 2023.

The Dodgers invited, invited, and then retrained the group for that Pride Night Festival. The anti-Catholic drug NUN group has been awarded the Team Community Hero Award for service to the LGBTQ+ community.

Williams and the other Dodgers players weren't okay with having a group there. In an interview with Bishop Robert Baronhe agreed that Catholics should speak out when the Catholic Church was being attacked directly like it was nearly two years ago.

“That's ridiculous. If this continues to happen, what are we doing?” Williams said in a conversation released Thursday. “Baseball stadiums should be a place where everyone feels 100% welcome. We should all feel that we should be welcome there. But that is clearly a particular religion. I disagreed with. If you don't draw a line in the sand, who is going to do it?”

The 32-year-old San Diego native recalls the situation and was asked at the time if he would say anything.

Williams said he had been thinking about what he wanted to say for a long time.

“We go through the whole process of identification – how do we become charitable, how do we call this? Like that face, this is an anti-Catholic ock lol. It was very difficult for my wife He told the bishop, “But it was very blatant about what they were doing and what they were doing.”

Williams criticized the Dodgers for hosting the group, saying in one statement it “undermines the value of respect and inclusivity that should be supported by any organization.”

He said the response was “overwhelmingly positive.”

“One of the few times in my life I really felt the power of prayer from others. I was able to raise the level. I was able to pray for Novena with thousands of people, so , enhanced a sense of devotion to the Sacred Heart. Do it.

“We found ourselves pregnant in the middle of this. We named our daughter Monica Margaret, for the sake of our holy and heartfelt grace.”

Williams said she felt “mentally exhausted” after a few weeks of being asked about the ordeal. He said he was in Houston as the Nationals had wrapped the series with the Astros and he could get back to Washington early as he was ready to pitch the next day.

He arrived at the airport early and sat in the food court to pray for the rosary, saying he was looking for some kind of bounty to know that he had done the right thing. He looked around and said he didn't think it was a sign of him.

Williams said he stood up and sat alone at another gate far from the airport crowd.

“The one walking next to me was this little nun. She was sitting right next to me. And I guess you're making fun of me? This is my bounty.” He said. “I've got this prayer card from this sister, Valhelmina, as I'm coming closer to her and I have a travel bag with me and my little altar kit… so I'll stand up to her And I am grateful that you gave us “Thank you to your witnesses.”

Williams revealed that the nun didn't speak English but was pleased to accept his prayer card.

“The little, little grace I went through this process was that God placed me in this arena as a baseball player to oppose this. He gave me my faith. The following week, I have to make this statement.”
