Major League Baseball will reportedly be played in uncharted territory.

The current record was set in 2008 when 113,000 people streamed through the gates for an exhibition game between the Red Sox and Dodgers at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
The plan is an extension of special games MLB has incorporated into its schedule in recent years. The league has played games in Europe, Asia, Mexico and Puerto Rico and in 2018 launched the Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, home of the Little League World Series, to coincide with the annual tournament.

Three years later, the Field of Dreams Game was created in Iowa, named after the movie of the same name, and earlier this season the league returned to the game’s roots, playing at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama, home of the Black Barons of the Negro Leagues. Willie Mays made his professional baseball debut with the Black Barons, but died just days before the game.
“It’s cool to do something different,” Braves third baseman Austin Riley said. “I think it’s cool and unique for the team to go on the road and change things up a little bit. It’s going to be a fun experience.”
