MLS fans in Canada boo ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’

Canadian Major League football fans booed “Star Spangled Banner” before the Vancouver White Cap and Los Angeles Galaxy game on Sunday night.

Since President Donald Trump decided to place tariffs on Canadian goods, fans have teased about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau becoming the 51st state in the United States, in addition to the trend of taking over Canada. It started with hockey in Ottawa Senators' games, followed by four countries' showdowns and even WWE's Elimination Chamber.

Brian White, an American footballer competing for the White Caps, spoke to the boo after the match. White scored a go-ahead goal in the team's 2-1 victory over Los Angeles.

“I would like to thank the fans for cheering and applauding the national anthem and showing their respect for the flag,” he told reporters. Daily Hibe Vancouver. “There's obviously a problem. It's not my business. I'll leave it as is.”

The public address announcer reminded BC Place fans to respect the singer. However, Elizabeth Irving, Marie Hui, Emma Curry and Ariel Tuliao joined the US national anthem, and boos came down.

Irving also sang the national anthem of WWE's removal room. Booth elicited responses from commentator Pat McAfee.
