“This is a great business, and we’re going to put together a group to buy TikTok…because TikTok should be owned by an American company,” Mnuchin said Thursday on CNBC’s “Squawkbox.”

House passes bill that could ban TikTok in the US

Secretary Mnuchin said that during the Trump administration, when he was Treasury secretary and chairman of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), he “forced President Trump to sign an order to sell TikTok.” Mnuchin said he still believes TikTok should be sold and that the House bill should pass the Senate.
