Tragic Boat Accident Claims Life of Young Alabama Mother

A devastating boating accident in Alabama has left a family heartbroken after the death of 27-year-old Britney Sherman. This tragic event occurred on June 15 at Bayou Sarah, near Saraland in Mobile County, while Britney was out on a boat with her husband, Cody, aged 30, and their four children.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) confirmed that the collision, which happened around 5:50 PM, involved two boats—a 20-foot center console and the 26-foot regulator that the Sherman family occupied. Reports indicate that Britney was thrown overboard as a result of the collision.

Despite emergency crews arriving quickly, the efforts to locate Britney were hindered by the murky waters of the Bayou, complicating the search in the aftermath of the incident.

On the following morning, search and rescue operations resumed, and at approximately 10:50 AM, they recovered Britney’s body about 100 yards from where she fell into the water.

During the collision, Cody was taken to a medical facility in Mobile for treatment, while one of their four children was also hospitalized for minor injuries.

Interestingly, neither the operator of the other boat nor the passengers on board reported injuries. The investigation into the cause of the crash by ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division is ongoing, yet no charges have been filed as of now.

This heartbreaking loss has left Cody grappling with the reality of raising their children alone. In a heartfelt message on Facebook, he expressed his deep love for Britney and promised to care for their children: “Britney, I love you more than anything in this world. I promise to take care of these babies for you. I know you’re watching over us.” He reflected on the daunting task ahead, adding, “How can I do this? I’ll do my best to make you proud. I’ll love you until I see you again.”
