Hailey Kalil Discusses Marriage and Divorce from Matt Kalil
Model Hailey Kalil has kept the specifics of her marriage to ex-husband, former NFL player Matt Kalil, under wraps.
In a recent chat on a popular streaming platform, Hailey, who filed for divorce in 2022, shared that their sexual relationship was a major reason for their separation. “We were trying to do something outrageous. We were really putting in the work,” she remarked, while typing something on her phone that she quickly showed to host Marlon.
“It’s garbage…our entire marriage, really. But I was willing to try everything. We saw therapists, consulted doctors. No stone was left unturned. I even looked up a specific lipotype. It’s sort of amusing—my life feels like a comedy that’s writing itself,” Hailey added.
“That was the biggest factor…I do care about him, but he’s more of a buddy to me now. He’s unique, like 0.01 percent of the population. We attempted to make it work, but, realistically, it just wasn’t going to happen without tears,” she continued.
Marlon reacted by dubbing it one of the “craziest stories” he’d encountered. Hailey noted, “That’s why you can’t share everything online. We genuinely tried.”
Despite their challenges, Hailey described both of them as rational individuals during the divorce. She mentioned that she had a lawyer and recalled being on Matt’s phone plan until recently.
She observed that Matt is a “really good person” who inspires her to be better.
Hailey filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences” back in May 2022. The couple, who tied the knot in July 2015, had officially separated earlier that same year.
As for Matt, he later married model Keilani Asmus in April 2024 after spending the first five seasons of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, where he was drafted fourth overall in 2012 and made the Pro Bowl in his rookie season. Following brief stints with the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans, Matt retired and launched the tequila company Celaya with his brother Ryan Kalil, a former NFL center.
