Tess Holliday Claims Life Insurance Denial Due to Weight

Model Tess Holliday shared on Wednesday that her weight led to her being denied life insurance.

In a TikTok video, she expressed her disbelief, saying, “I’m 40, a non-smoker, I don’t drink, and I’m in good health. I thought I could get life insurance. Honestly, it’s my fault,” she added, a hint of sarcasm evident in her tone.

She noted her height of 5 feet 3 inches and weight of over 300 pounds, remarking that this disqualified her from coverage. “And apparently that makes me ineligible for life insurance. Yeah, that’s right,” she pointed out.

Holliday emphasized that she exercises regularly, has no health issues, and isn’t on any medications.

Calling out the “medical-industrial complex” and “fatphobia,” she asserted that the system is flawed.

Her sarcastic remark continued, “It’s my fault and my responsibility. Honestly, something like this will never happen again. Lesson learned.”

In her post’s caption, she described her surprise over the situation, stating, “AAA, you did something dirty to me.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to AAA for comments.

Just last week, Holliday shared a video of herself in a green bikini with the word “fat” written across it, captioning it, “POV: I lost weight but it never became who I am.”

In another caption, she pondered, “Imagine self-acceptance being toxic. It can’t be me.”

Holliday mentioned starting the “#efyourbeautystandards” movement, stressing that this issue was still important. “It’s been 13 years, and we still need that reminder. Perhaps now more than ever,” she expressed.

Last fall, the model recounted a “state of shock” after a flight attendant suggested she lose weight while flying first class with her son.

While using the bathroom, she accidentally hit the flight attendant call button. Upon her return, the attendant told her it was best for her to lose weight, citing concerns for her sister who had faced discrimination due to her weight on a plane.

“He went on about how my sister was ‘very, very big’ and recently had problems while flying,” she recalled. “This continued for about 10 minutes, and I think I just froze. I didn’t want to create a scene with my son there, but I was also in disbelief.”

In her video, Holliday stated the attendant mentioned someone had complained about her sister’s weight, and that United had made some “offensive” remarks. The attendant asserted, “It’s a joke to think I don’t need to lose weight because I’m big.”

While Holliday understood some might interpret the attendant’s comments as well-meaning, she fiercely disagreed. “That’s not the point,” she asserted. “You don’t speak to people like that. The conversation dragged on for far too long. Thankfully, another passenger came to the bathroom, and I interrupted it.”

Following the incident, she communicated with United Airlines and said they promised to discuss the matter with their team. “I don’t want anyone to lose their job,” she clarified. “I just hope they can provide some sensitivity training to avoid this in the future.”
