A 12-year-old girl and her brother in Wisconsin were taken into protective custody after a man allegedly assaulted her mother after paying her to spend time with him.
Shortly after midnight Sunday morning, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a man in Oakfield, Wisconsin, about 110 miles northwest of Milwaukee. The caller claimed that a young girl knocked on the door in an attempt to escape from a man who was imprisoned in a car.

The 12 year old girl then reportedly She told deputies that when she fled, “an adult male restrained her, blindfolded her, and attempted to assault her” inside the vehicle. Fond du Lac County Sheriff ryan waldschmidt The girl was praised for her courageous self-rescue.
“She is a brave young woman,” he said.
An investigation into the girl’s claims revealed that men were not the only ones who allegedly harmed her. Law enforcement soon learned that the girl’s mother was acquainted with the suspect and may have facilitated the crime.
“We believe that her mother was actually involved in financial transactions with a man known to her mother.” Waldschmidt “This man paid her mother to spend time alone with her and then took her to a secluded area.”
The suspect is a 30- or 31-year-old Nicaraguan citizen who is in the United States illegally. His true identity has not yet been revealed as he used multiple aliases, but authorities confirmed that the man crossed the Texas border from Mexico in October 2021.
“At that time, he was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents, processed at a federal facility, and then released from custody with instructions to comply with current federal immigration policy,” Waldschmidt said.
The man was arrested without incident in Fond du Lac on Monday. The girl’s mother, whose immigration status is still being determined, was also arrested. Both men could be charged with child sexual assault, false imprisonment, child trafficking and failure to protect a child.
More arrests may be made in this case. Meanwhile, the girl and her three siblings were taken into protective custody.
