An American man arrested in the Turks and Caicos Islands with ammunition in his luggage could face up to 12 years in prison. A detained American mother is speaking out and calling on those around her to pray for her daughter. Her daughter was arrested on a Caribbean island after allegedly having two rounds of ammunition in her luggage.
Sharitta Shanise Greer, a 45-year-old woman from Orlando, Florida, is currently being held in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Ms. Greer was vacationing on a Caribbean island and she tried to fly back to Florida on her plane on Monday.

Greer was arrested and charged with possession of ammunition.

Mr. Greer is the fifth American to be arrested and detained in the Turks and Caicos Islands since February on suspicion of possessing ammunition at an airport.The other American citizens are Ryan Watson of Oklahoma., Tyler Wenrich of Virginia, Brian Hagerich of Pennsylvania, and Michael Lee Evans of Texas.
As Blaze News previously reported, Watson was arrested in April after authorities found four rounds of ammunition in her luggage. Watson said the ammunition was “unknowingly left in my duffel bag when I went deer hunting.” He also claimed that after his arrest he was subjected to “horrific interrogations” and exorbitant living costs.
The five Americans could face up to 12 years in prison in the Turks and Caicos Islands because of the Caribbean country’s strict firearms laws.
Last week, three U.S. governors sent a joint letter to the governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands this week, asking for mercy for five Americans arrested on suspicion of bringing ammunition to the island.
