A 27-year-old mother told her 7-year-old daughter to take her wallet out of a booth at a Georgia restaurant earlier this month, police said. WAGA-TV reported.
What are the details?
On March 2, the station reported that a viewer called the investigation after surveillance video was released that authorities said showed Kenya Butler urging a child to remove an unattended wallet at a Juicy Club booth in Newnan. He announced that he helped guide the suspects to Butler.
“After this story was aired in the media, we were able to identify Kenya Butler as the perpetrator in this incident,” the investigator said. Taylor Dalton of the Newnan Police Department told WAGA.
Butler, a Union City resident and mother of three, is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and theft, the department said, adding that her 7-year-old daughter is safe.
WAGA reports that police say Butler can be seen on video taking the girl to an empty booth, saying something to her and watching as she grabs her wallet and leaves. That’s what it means.

In addition, the group with Butler left the restaurant immediately after their wallets were stolen, skipping over $500 in bills, police added.

WAGA said investigators are trying to identify a man seen on surveillance video who is believed to be responsible for the bill. The department said anyone who can help police identify the man is asked to call the Newnan Police Department.
