New body camera footage shows the moment a Tennessee police officer shot and killed a man who was trying to rob an armored vehicle employee before charging him with two knives, authorities said.
According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, officers were dispatched around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday after Steven James Murphy, 44, attempted to rob an employee who was refilling an ATM with cash.
Murfreesboro Police Department spokesman Larry Flowers said in a news conference that the employee pointed a gun at Murphy, who then ran into a nearby deli.
The video shows Officer Adam Claiborne opening the door to the deli and saying “hey” to Murphy who was behind the counter. Murphy then turned her around and charged at the officers with a knife in each hand over her head.
