It was a very fulfilling week in New York.
The Yankees and Mets have advanced to MLB's final four, drawing attention — for the time being anyway — from the Jets, who fired head coach Robert Saleh and stripped Nathaniel Hackett of play-calling duties.
Six days after the shocking news that Saleh was fired, the Jets will face division rival Buffalo on Monday night with a fresh start. That's a lot to ask of any team, especially one as dysfunctional as Gang Green.
If the Bills win, they will extend their lead over the rest of the AFC East, but the Jets will have a head-to-head advantage against the Bills, and a win would put them in first place in the division.
Can Jeff rally under interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich and string together some important wins?
It's unlikely you'll win in a straight, but the spread is a different story.
Bills vs. Jets predictions against the spread
The Jets opened this game as the home favorite with a one-point lead, but after that, the margin was 2.5 points in favor of the Bills. Through the first five weeks, both teams are just 2-3 against the outbreak.
In last week's game against the Vikings, the Jets committed three turnovers and ran for just 36 yards, near their worst performance on offense. All three turnovers were interceptions thrown by Aaron Rodgers, including a pick-six in the first quarter.
Rodgers (knee) and Bills QB Josh Allen (head) were injured in Week 5, but each returned and finished their respective games, missing just one snap. Both have been practicing this week and are scheduled to play on Monday.
Even with a healthy Allen, Buffalo has looked rough the past two weeks, losing to the Ravens by 25 points and the Texans by a field goal margin.
Allen completed just nine of his 30 attempts against Houston, and the Bills had nearly 150 yards more total offense.
Allen and his receivers are not on the same page, and Buffalo's defense, which has been a strength in recent years, has allowed a total of 427 and 425 yards, respectively, in the past two games.
Since 2003, 38 teams have fired coaches during the season, according to the Action Network. These teams went 17-21 straight up (SU) and 22-16 against the spread (ATS) in their first games with their new head coach.
Rodgers also has the NFL's best ATS record in night home games (28-14-1), according to Action Network. They have a league-best 19-6 ATS record against divisional opponents.
Recommended value: Jets +2.5 (-108, FanDuel)

Bills vs. Jets over/under picks
At some sportsbooks, the point total dropped from the starting line of 47.5 points to 40.5 points. The Jets are 1-3-1, while Buffalo has exceeded that point total twice in five games.
Buffalo gave up 7.9 yards per play to the Ravens and 6.3 yards per play to the Texans. That might not matter against the Jets, whose offense is pathologically poor, ranking 27th in total yards per game and 23rd in offensive DVOA.
Breece Hall has only totaled 27 yards rushing on 19 attempts over the past two games, but he hasn't gotten any help from Rodgers and has thrown more interceptions (two) than he did against the Texans all season (2018). Sometimes it was less.
Do you want to bet on the NFL?
It's possible the Jets can turn things around and win, but with so many points accumulated it's hard to imagine that happening.
Recommendation: Slightly leaning under 41 points (-110, Caesars).
