Monique Samuels Speaks Out on Ex-Husband Chris Samuels’ Involvement
Monique Samuels is back in the spotlight with Bravo, but she feels her ex-husband, former NFL player Chris Samuels, is closely monitoring her every move.
The “Real Housewives of Potomac” star has stepped into a “Friend” role for Season 10 and shared in an interview that Chris seems to be very interested in her return to reality TV, even though he hasn’t reached out to her directly.
“Oh, you better believe he’s watching. But things between us? Not great. Co-parenting is really tough,” Monique stated. She has three young children—Milani, Christopher, and Chase—with Chris.
She also added, “He won’t come to me about anything he hears. He has other people do that for him. It’s sneaky and, well, very much his style.”
At 42, Monique expressed frustration over how the public and private perceptions of Chris differ. Viewers, she says, struggle to reconcile the man they see on screen with the one she was married to for almost a decade.
“I kept up a great image, which shocks a lot of people,” she explained. “Even during that last episode, he claimed he didn’t know anything about the show’s drama.”
Monique believes Chris, who is 48 now, actually knows more about the show than he admits. She mentioned that his interactions with the current cast help him stay informed.
“He knows what’s going on. He has Cookie as his spokesperson, following his orders. Why does he choose her? Because she keeps things quiet for him. Then he can act like he’s clueless. I’ve seen this happen so many times,” she added.
Monique also discussed the recent buzz around Stacey Rush, a former QVC host, implying that communication between Stacey and Chris existed before her return to the series.
“Stacey showed me messages where Chris was texting her, asking about his name being mentioned on the show before I even signed my contract,” Monique claimed. “If they were talking then, why not later?”
This inconsistency in Stacey’s account raised more concerns for her.
“I wasn’t at Gisele’s last event, but I heard Stacey claim she didn’t have Chris’s number. Yet later, she called him. That just didn’t make sense to me,” she noted.
As scenes unfolded on the show, Monique found it odd that Stacey brought Chris into the conversation while filming. “She said, ‘We’re filming.’ No one is that clueless,” Monique remarked.
After years of marriage, Monique feels ready to share her full story in an upcoming memoir titled “Love Letters from Different Versions of Myself: A Memoir of Self-Discovery, Transformation, and Healing.” She aims to explore the darker sides of her relationship and her personal journey.
Monique plans to offer insights into the many stages of her life, from childhood through her marriage and beyond. “I’ll lay out everything and use my experiences as examples of change,” she shared.
She acknowledged that confronting painful truths was challenging. “The toughest part is realizing those you thought would stand by you were never really there. Sometimes, the person closest to you can be your biggest enemy,” she reflected.
Despite the heartache, she views her difficult marriage as a turning point for her spiritual growth.
“If not for my marriage, I wouldn’t have had this moment of awakening,” she emphasized. “I now truly believe I deserve to be loved the right way.”
This time around on RHOP, Monique is clear about her priorities: focusing on her own image.
“The Real Housewives of Potomac” airs Sundays at 8 PM ET on Bravo, with new episodes available for streaming the following day on Peacock.
