Sen. Bernie Moreno Critiques Canadian Wildfire Response
On Friday, Senator Bernie Moreno from Ohio appeared on FNC’s “The Ingraham Angle” to express his discontent with how the Canadian government is handling the ongoing wildfires that are affecting air quality in the Midwest.
Moreno stated, “It’s quite straightforward. We’re being sent to the gas chambers here in Ohio. Summer is really brief, and right now, in the peak of summer, we can’t go outside. It’s really frightening. Every morning, the air quality alerts appear, indicating, ‘Dangerous. Stay indoors.’ This isn’t the first time; it’s happened multiple times now, and we can’t just accept it. This situation is entirely preventable. It’s not merely about climate change; it stems from a change in leadership in Canada.”
Laura Ingraham, the host, emphasized the scene in Washington, saying, “We left early today. We could see the Lincoln Memorial facing the Capitol, but we couldn’t make out the Washington Monument. It’s completely obscured by smoke. There’s real concern over the long-term effects this could have on vulnerable lungs and on those who are forced to work outdoors. There are significant health risks, as well as issues related to entertainment and recreation, not to mention an obvious economic impact.”
In response, Moreno argued, “To give you some perspective, if you removed every car from the roads in America for a year, that would equate to the pollution generated over the past few weeks, mostly affecting the Midwest. And it’s appalling to hear politicians like Carney and Ford suggest we should lend our support when they are allowing this to happen. We’ll implement sanctions, which involve protecting their resources. As President Trump said, we will impose tariffs. Those affected must be compensated. This disaster could have been avoided.”
He further remarked, “And by the way, those who continuously discuss climate change: this is the worst environmental disaster imaginable. The amount of pollutants dumped in the Midwest over just three weeks corresponds to that of every car in America running for an entire year.”
