Morgan Wallen dropped a teaser sample early Friday morning for a potentially upcoming mega-hit, “Redneck.”
Absolutely no one will be able to deny Wallen’s incredible vocal abilities after just one short listen to the sample of his hopefully upcoming single, “Redneck,” which is basically a giant “F-You” to city-dwelling suit wearers. The entire track is like a magical revisioning of the message that started in Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond.”
“Hey Mr. City Man, [rolex] on your wrist / NASDAQ in your hand / rolling your eyes at my beat-up truck,” Wallen sings, creating an image of him spitting dip into a cup while pulled up at a red light in any American town, watching this city man judge him. So Wallen sends a pretty simple message to this demographic of men and women: “When you die, I hope you come back as a redneck.”
“Hot damn. Morgasm incoming,” wrote one fan on the extremely popular post.

The lyrics continue to paint what life in real America feels like: back-breaking work, Hell hot summer sun tans and a beautiful relationship with Jesus Christ. Sure, it hurts, but it’s a real life like nowhere else on the Earth could ever provide.
This song is an oddly inspiring ballad of modern life in America. Too many times I’ve sat at a red light in my 2007 Hyundai Elantra stick shift with peeling paint and a bent door frame, seeing the looks of “eww” from whoever is driving a brand new SUV right next to me, probably going to the exact same place. But then again, I’d rather be the redneck in that situation than anyone else.
