Most Americans Believe Most Democrats and Republicans in Congress Should Be Replaced, According to a Poll

CNN Poll Reveals Dissatisfaction with Congress

A recent CNN poll conducted by SSRS, released on Thursday, indicates that a significant majority of voters—both Democrats and Republicans alike—feel that their elected representatives in Congress do not deserve re-election. Specifically, only 41% of voters believe that most Congressional Democrats are deserving of another term, while a striking 58% think they should not be re-elected.

Additionally, the disapproval extends to Republican representatives as well: 60% of those surveyed believe that most Republicans in Congress should not retain their positions. The poll reveals that only 28% of respondents have a favorable view of Democrats, which is noted as the lowest rating for the party in CNN’s polling history. Similarly, only 33% of those surveyed expressed a positive view of the GOP.

In light of these polling results, some Democratic officials are reportedly re-evaluating the future of their party. There are concerns about their chances of reclaiming the Senate in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. This sentiment of dissatisfaction is echoed in remarks from former President Barack Obama, who has suggested that the Democrats need to “strengthen.”

Within the party, there are attempts by some left-wing Democrats to promote individuals like Zoran Mamdani, a socialist candidate, as the new face of the Democratic Party.

The CNN poll was conducted between July 10 and 13 and surveyed a random sample of 1,057 adults across the United States. The methodology included both online and telephone interviews, and the margin of error for adult results stands at ±3.5 percentage points.
