Most Americans ‘More Enthusiastic’ to Vote in 2024 Election than Previous Years

A Gallup poll found that most Americans are “more enthusiastic” than usual to vote in the 2024 presidential election in November.

About two-thirds of people who say only Biden (67%) or Trump (69%) would make a good president are more enthusiastic than usual about voting. But among those who say neither candidate is good, this percentage drops to 24%. Seventy-one percent of Americans in this group feel less enthusiastic about voting.

Additionally, 59% of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters said they felt “more enthusiastic” to vote in 2024, compared to 55% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters who said the same. A more detailed comparison shows that 51% of Republicans felt more motivated to vote in 2016 and 62% in 2020.

The overall survey was conducted between March 1 and 20, 2024, among 1,015 adults. There is an error of ± 4%.

The poll comes as Mr. Trump continues to campaign, drawing large crowds and visible representation of enthusiastic supporters who are vocal about their support for the former president. This was evident during his recent visit to Atlanta, Georgia, where President Trump chatted with his supporters and bought everyone milkshakes and chicken from Chick-fil-A.
