Most People Support Legal Action in Biden Autopen Controversy

A majority of 55% believe that White House staff improperly used the presidential autopen without the awareness of then-President Joe Biden.

Furthermore, 52% of respondents think this should be treated as a prosecutable offense.

According to a recent survey:

Fifty-five percent (55%) of U.S. voters suspect that a member of the White House team used an autopen to sign documents without Biden’s knowledge or consent while he was in office, with 40% considering it very likely. Conversely, 33% believe it’s not likely that this occurred, including 18% who say it’s not likely at all. The remaining 12% are uncertain.

According to the same survey, “52% of voters feel that Biden’s inner circle should face criminal charges for their actions during his time in office.” Interestingly, “32% disagree, and 17% are unsure.”

That’s a relatively low percentage—only 32% oppose the idea of criminal prosecution.

Majorities among both white and Hispanic voters favor prosecution, at 53% and 56%, respectively. Among black voters, there’s also a noticeable inclination for prosecution, with 45% approving of it and 34% against it.

This poll, which targeted 1,157 likely voters, followed an investigation that reportedly uncovered evidence suggesting that members of the Biden administration utilized autopens without his knowledge. It raises questions about how some non-elected staffers may have overstepped their boundaries. I imagine many of those same individuals criticize former President Trump for actions they perceive as undermining democracy.

Previously reported by Breitbart News, the Congressional investigation highlighted that several executive actions supposedly enacted by President Biden—including pardons and commutations—were not directly approved by him.

Additionally, the report claims that some actions might have been authorized by Biden’s aides without his knowledge, facilitated through the use of a mechanical device that replicates signatures.

It seems particularly anti-democratic to act as if one is in a role of authority when that’s not the case. The implications are serious—after all, the president is the only elected official in this country. For White House aides to sign documents in the president’s name without his awareness represents a breach of constitutional principles. Citizens deserve to be led by their chosen representatives, not by unelected figures acting without accountability.

Criminal acts should certainly be prosecuted, and those responsible ought to face significant consequences.
