Texas mother sued for leaving young daughters home for hours to go gambling and drinking, KPRC 2 Houston report Tuesday.
The report, citing information from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, said, “While their mothers were out for 10 to 12 hours, children ages 3 and 5 were left home with no food and exterior doors locked. was left behind,” he said. “The girls reportedly tried to crawl out the back window of the house, but neighbors spotted them and called police.”
Mary Ann DeLeon, 38, faces charges of abandoning a child with the intention of recovering charges. Officials said her children were released by relatives.

“When the mother was questioned, she told police she had been to the game room with a friend and thought the girls’ father was coming to look after them,” the report said.
A neighbor named Jonathan Garcia said he noticed girls crying in the house.
“First, I came out at 6am and actually saw my dad put on his work clothes and go to work. I went outside and no one was there,” Garcia told the magazine. “I looked out the window and saw a little girl crying, so I went home and told my mother. ”

Garcia said her mother called the police. He told the media that he was surprised by the situation because “they seemed very kind” and “the mother was doing reasonably well with the children.”
Investigators have not confirmed whether the children’s father has been arrested or will face any charges.
DeLeon was reportedly held in the Harris County Jail on $1,000 bail. Local news outlets learned that this was Deleon’s first arrest.
