Mother at Great Wolf Lodge charged with homicide for allegedly killing her husband and son

Tragic Incident at Pennsylvania Resort

Details are gradually emerging about a horrific incident involving a father and his three-year-old son, both of whom were fatally stabbed during their extended stay at a family resort in Pennsylvania.

Authorities are alleging that Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, wielded butcher knives when she attacked her husband, Charles “Chaz” Harrison, 36, and their young son. This shocking event occurred at the Great Wolf Lodge, located in the picturesque Pocono region, on a Monday. The family had traveled from Towanda, a small town in Pennsylvania.

According to a criminal complaint, officers were called to the scene in response to a 911 plea concerning a “suicidal woman” who purportedly needed assistance in dying. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the two victims in their hotel room, both suffering from stab wounds, surrounded by knives, blood, and what appeared to be various medications.

The couple was in the midst of a three-week stay at the resort, which is known for its family-friendly atmosphere—though it can come with a high price tag, often exceeding $600 a night. In a statement issued to the media, a spokesperson for Great Wolf Lodge remarked that extended stays are not typical but can occur, particularly when families are managing home renovations and seek solace in larger accommodations and entertainment options.

While the spokesperson didn’t elaborate on how the family arranged payment for their stay, she did direct inquiries to local law enforcement for specifics regarding the ongoing investigation.

Family and friends are reeling from the sudden loss. A woman named Melissa Rivera, who identified herself as Chaz’s sister, expressed deep sorrow in a post about their unexpected deaths. She described Chaz—a man who devoted his life to his wife and child—as someone dearly cherished by family. The abruptness of this tragedy is, well, it’s just hard to grasp.

The couple had posted pictures of their time at the resort just before the incident, making the tragedy even more jarring. They checked in to the lodge on September 21 and were set to leave shortly before the fatal event.

Currently, Metallica Rose Harrison remains held in a jail in Monroe County and has been denied bond as she faces criminal homicide charges. A preliminary hearing has been set for October 21, and, for now, the Great Wolf Lodge community is left wondering how something so horrific could occur in such a family-oriented setting.
