New Hampshire Woman Charged in THC Gummy Case
A woman from New Hampshire has been charged with child endangerment and witness tampering after her daughter consumed THC gummies, resulting in a positive test for cannabinoids and cocaine, according to officials.
The investigation started when the state Department of Children, Youth and Families alerted the Nashua Police Department on November 3. Detectives discovered that a 6-year-old girl ended up in the hospital after ingesting the gummies, and her mother allegedly told witnesses not to work with investigators.
In a statement from the Nashua Police Department, it was noted that while hospitalized, the girl tested positive for various illicit substances, including cannabinoids and cocaine. Detectives reported discovering that the mother, Paige Goulet, had discouraged a witness from participating in the investigation and concluded that she had failed in her responsibility to care for her young daughter.
Paige Goulet, 30, was arrested on a felony warrant for witness tampering related to the ongoing investigation by Nashua police. Following her arrest on Monday by officers from Meredith, she was formally charged.
Currently, Goulet faces charges of witness tampering and endangering the welfare of a child. She has been released on a $300 cash bail and is expected to appear in Nashua District Court on January 7.
The Nashua Police Department has not issued further comments at this time.
