Tragic Incident in Poconos: Mother Accused of Killing Family
A young mother is accused of fatally stabbing her husband and their 3-year-old son during a family vacation in the Poconos before attempting suicide. Authorities reported that Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, expressed her frustrations about working tirelessly to be the best mother and wife.
According to police, Harrison allegedly stabbed her husband, Charles Harrison, and their son, referred to by the initials T.H., before injuring herself in a hotel room at Great Wolf Lodge.
Following the attacks, she reportedly called 911 for assistance, asking how to find the right vein to cut, indicating a desire to end her life. During the call, she stated, “My husband and son are already gone in the bed in the living room,” and added, “I’m sorry.”
Emergency responders later found both victims in the hotel room. Police mentioned that Harrison had inflicted stab wounds to their chests and attempted to harm herself as well.
The Monroe County District Attorney described the incident as a “violent domestic tragedy,” reaffirming that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
During her arrest, Harrison declined to speak to officers, claiming, “I’m suicidal, not stupid.” However, she later engaged in a troubling conversation with emergency medical personnel. She articulated her efforts to be the perfect mother and wife, lamenting that her dreams of having a happy family were shattered. “It wasn’t supposed to end like this,” she shared.
Harrison also inquired about the depth of her veins, suggesting she might want to know for another occasion. Evidence collected at the scene included two teal-handled knives—reportedly not from the lodge—along with containers resembling blood and various medication bottles. In total, police retrieved over 80 to 90 pieces of evidence from the hotel room.
She has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide and is currently hospitalized, having not yet been arraigned.
The family had been at Great Wolf Lodge for a few weeks, having checked in on September 21, and extended their stay on October 5.
A spokesperson for Great Wolf Lodge expressed the company’s sorrow over the incident, calling it an isolated family matter and stating they are fully cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation.
